“He Makes Me Lie Down in Green Pastures” (Psalm 23:2).
It’s a beautiful image, and it has a deeper meaning than just rest. Sheep will not lie down if they are afraid, hungry, or unsettled. For a sheep to rest, it must trust its shepherd completely. When David says the Lord makes him lie down, he is describing the gentle, caring grace of God. The Good Shepherd removes fear, provides nourishment, and creates a place where the soul can finally rest.
Sometimes life keeps us running with busy schedules, worries about the future, or burdens we carry alone. Sometimes we are anxious and don't even know why. God knows when your soul needs rest. We may need to find a place where we can spend time alone with God. He will fill us with His promises, settle our worries, and reassure us of His presence.

Some religions teach you to find your inner peace - through meditation or in some other way. The Bible says peace does not come from within us or from the world. A few hours before His crucifixion, Jesus spoke the following words to His disciples: “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or afraid” (John 14:27).
True peace, lasting peace, the kind of peace that transcends the worries of the world, comes from knowing Jesus and trusting in His promises. Jesus' disciples needed His peace. They were troubled at that moment. When your heart is troubled, Jesus wants to give you His peace.
When the world seems anything but peaceful, rest in the peace you have from knowing Jesus. When anxieties come, tell Jesus you need to be reminded of His peace. When you wonder why, talk to Jesus and you will be comforted by His presence..
